During the past week, no additional eruptive activity was
noted at Mount Cleveland in the central Aleutian Islands.
On May 25, pilots reported a burst of ash rising an estimated 35,000 ft ASL.
Navy and U.S. FIsh and Wildlife Service personnel in Adak report seeing a "gray" steam plume rising 3000 - 4000 feet over Kanaga Volcano on Thursday. Poor weather prevented additional observations earlier in the week. AVO received no pilot reports of continuing eruptive activity.
Residents of Port Heiden observed a steam plume over Veniaminof Volcano on Thursday. AVO received no pilot reports of continuing eruptive activity.
COOK INLET VOLCANOES
Seismicity at Spurr, Augustine, Redoubt and Iliamna
volcanoes remains at normal levels.
The Alaska Volcano Observatory continues to seismically
monitor Spurr, Augustine, Redoubt and Iliamna volcanoes. We
maintain a computerized alarm system that is capable of
notifying AVO seismologists during non business hours should
unusual seismic activity occur.
