This Information Release is being disseminated as part of a test of the Alaska Interagency volcanic ash warning and advisory procedures and communications. Products being disseminated in addition to this AVO Information Release include the following test products that will be issued by the National Weather Service:
Test UUA by the Center Weather Service Unit (CWSU).
Test Sigmet by the Alaska Aviation Weather Unit (AAWU).
Test Graphical Meteorological Impact Statement (MIS) by the CWSU.
Test Volcanic Ash Advisory (VAA) by the AAWU.
Cancellation for the Test Sigmet by the AAWU.
Cancellation for the Test VAA by the AAWU.
If you (a) did not receive all of the products you NORMALLY receive or wish to receive, (b) if the receipt of products was significantly delayed (compare time of issue with time it was received), or (c) received a product you do not want to receive, please notify AVO by e-mail or phone.
VOLCANO ALERT LEVELS:
NORMAL Typical background activity of a volcano in a non-eruptive state
ADVISORY Elevated unrest above known background activity
WATCH Volcano is exhibiting heightened or escalating unrest with increased potential for eruptive activity
WARNING Highly hazardous eruption underway or imminent
ABBREVIATED AVIATION COLOR CODE KEY:
GREEN volcano is dormant; normal seismicity and fumarolic activity occurring
YELLOW volcano is restless; eruption may occur
ORANGE volcano is in eruption or eruption may occur at any time
RED significant eruption is occurring or explosive eruption expected at any time
